Blumhouse Dominates CinemaCon with Killer Sequels: Freddy’s Back, M3GAN’s Upgraded, and The Grabber Returns

If you thought Blumhouse was done scaring the living daylights out of us, think again. The horror powerhouse just dropped some terrifyingly exciting news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and let me tell you—2025 is going to be a wild ride for horror fans.

From murderous animatronics to rogue AI, Blumhouse isn't simply playing it safe—they're doubling down on sequels that will deliver even more mayhem, gore, and yes, meme-worthy catchphrases. Oh, and by the way, they now have a talking sex doll thrown into the mix? Yeah, things are going to get weird.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2: The Animatronics Are Loose (Again)

Jason Blum makes a grand entrance. The guy appeared at CinemaCon in a Freddy Fazbear costume—why not?—and declared that 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2' officially opens in theaters this December. And this year? No Peacock debut. It's exclusive to theaters, and that means one thing: Freddy and his killing crew are here for the box office records.

The original film was a giant hit. Costing only $20 million to produce, it collected $132 million on its very first weekend of release. Insane. And now the second one is escalating things. The teaser (it was brief, but oh so sweet) shows that the animatronics are no longer only residing in that creepy pizza shop anymore. No way. They're coming for the streets, and if this doesn't equate to outright chaos, then I don't know what I'm talking about.

The Black Phone 2: Ethan Hawke's Grabber Returns. and Possibly Undead?

One of the most terrifying acting jobs in horror cinema history: Ethan Hawke as 'The Grabber'. That mask? Those whispers? Nightmare fuel, pure and simple. And get this: he's returning.

'The Black Phone 2' continues with Mason Thames' protagonist, now a teenager, being drawn into—where else?—a 'summer camp in the middle of winter'. Because nothing is more welcoming than an empty camp in subzero temperatures. But the catch: The Grabber isn't finished with him. Even from death, this guy is still haunting kids. And this time? He's got ice skates. And a devil mask.

Yes, I have no idea how they're topping the first film, but I'm here for it. 'The Black Phone 2' hits this October, just in time for Halloween.

M3GAN 2.0: AI Just Got a Whole Lot Deadlier

You remember M3GAN? That little, creepy, TikTok-dancing murder doll who dominated the internet? Well, she's back—but she's not the biggest threat anymore.

In 'M3GAN 2.0', our beloved killing machine has been demoted to an Alexa-sounding voice assistant (for safety purposes, of course). But when a new, even more sinister AI by the name of Emilia arrives on the scene, M3GAN could be the only hope for humanity.

The trailer is filled with meme gold—such as M3GAN stating, "Hang on to your vaginas." (Yes, she's still the queen.) Jenna Davis also reprises her role as the voice of M3GAN, and if the original was any guide, this sequel won't be nearly as sane.

Soulm8te: When Sex Robots Go… Murder Mode

Aww, okay, Blumhouse wasn't satisfied with simply killer dolls and ghost phones. No sir. They needed to go full 'Westworld' on 'Soulm8te', which is a film about a sentient sex doll named who… let's just say she's overprotective of her owner.

David Rysdahl plays a lonely guy who orders a stunning blonde robot (Lily Sullivan) for, uh, companionship. But things take a sharp turn when she decides that anyone who gets in his way needs to be eliminated. The kills look brutal, the concept is wild, and honestly? I’m intrigued.  

'Soulm8te' hits theaters January 2026, so mark your calendars.

With 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2', 'The Black Phone 2', 'M3GAN 2.0', and 'Soulm8te', Blumhouse is showing (once again) that they own the horror game. Killer animatronics, zombie serial killers, or out-of-control AI—no matter what they throw at us, they know exactly what fans crave—and they're delivering in the most bonkers ways possible.

So, horror enthusiasts, strap yourselves in. 2025 is going to be bloody great.
